Compare the2025 Buick EnvistaVS 2025 Lexus UX

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Buick Envista achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Lexus UX has not been tested.

Both the Envista and the UX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

There are almost 4 times as many Buick dealers as there are Lexus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Envista’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Buick vehicles are better in initial quality than Lexus vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Buick above average in initial quality. With 10 more problems per 100 vehicles, Lexus is rated lower.

The Envista’s 1.2 turbo 3-cylinder produces 10 lbs.-ft. more torque (162 vs. 152) than the UX’s 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

Both the Envista and UX have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. The Envista has a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily.

The Envista has 2.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the UX (13.2 vs. 10.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Envista has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The UX doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Envista stops much shorter than the UX:

For better traction, the Envista’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the UX (245/45R19 vs. 225/50R18).

The Envista’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the UX’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Envista offers optional 19-inch wheels. The UX’s largest wheels are only 18-inches.

The Envista has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The UX doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Envista has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the UX; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Envista’s wheelbase is 2.1 inches longer than on the UX (106 inches vs. 103.9 inches).

The Envista Avenir handles at .83 G’s, while the UX 300h F Sport Handling pulls only .79 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Buick Envista may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 450 pounds less than the Lexus UX.

The front grille of the Envista uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The UX doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Envista uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The UX doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Envista has 7.1 cubic feet more passenger volume than the UX (97.5 vs. 90.4).

The Envista has 2.2 inches more front headroom, 1 inch more front shoulder room, 1 inch more rear headroom, 5.6 inches more rear legroom and 1.6 inches more rear shoulder room than the UX.

The Envista has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the UX (20.7 vs. 17.1 cubic feet).

The Envista can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Envista can be unhitched and driven around locally. The UX can’t be towed flat on the ground.

The Envista’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The UX does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The power windows standard on both the Envista and the UX have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Envista is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The UX prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Envista’s available exterior PIN entry system. The UX doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system.

Consumer Reports® recommends both the Buick Envista and the Lexus UX, based on reliability, safety and performance.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Envista third among small suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The UX isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Buick Envista outsold the Lexus UX by almost six to one during 2024.
