Safety

Both the Sierra EV and the Silverado EV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Engine

The Sierra EV’s electric motors produces 244 more horsepower (754 vs. 510) and 185 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 600) than the Silverado EV W/T’s standard electric motors. The Sierra EV’s electric motors produces 239 more horsepower (754 vs. 515) and 185 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 600) than the Silverado EV W/T’s optional electric motors.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 can travel longer on a full charge than the Silverado EV 3WT (440 miles vs. 393 miles).

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Sierra EV has larger tires than the Silverado EV (275/50R24 vs. 265/70R18).

The Sierra EV’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Silverado EV’s standard 70 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Sierra EV has standard 24-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Silverado EV.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the Sierra EV uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Silverado EV, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

For greater off-road capability the Sierra EV has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Silverado EV (9 vs. 8.9 inches), allowing the Sierra EV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Sierra EV has 2 inches more front headroom and .1 inches more front legroom than the Silverado EV.

Ergonomics

The Sierra EV’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Silverado EV’s standard power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully. The Silverado EV RST’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The Sierra EV’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Silverado EV’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the GMC Sierra EV has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Silverado EV RST offers wireless charging.
